What Is Invisalign®?

Invisalign® aligners are made of clear, flexible plastic – a patented thermoplastic material called SmartTrack®. It is FDA approved and free of BPA, BPS, latex, and gluten. The aligners are incredibly thin and nearly invisible, so you can continue to feel confident about your smile while we straighten it.

To begin with, Dr. Luck and his team will obtain an impression of your mouth and bite. After this, they will work with Invisalign® using ClinCheck® software that will allow them to fine-tune the movement of each tooth. This ensures ultimate treatment efficiency while maintaining your comfort throughout. Once this is finished, your new aligners will be crafted by Invisalign®, and you’ll return for an additional appointment to receive them once they are complete.

What Are the Benefits of Invisalign®?

The two most significant benefits of Invisalign® aligners are that they are more comfortable and work more quickly than traditional braces. On average, Invisalign® straightens teeth about 50% faster due to their patented material and the frequency with which the aligners are swapped out – approximately every two weeks. This means that most patients can have the smile they’ve dreamed of in about 12 to 18 months.

Patients report that the aligners are so comfortable they barely even feel them, if at all. Since there is no metal involved and the aligners move the teeth in tandem with one another, discomfort is minimal. It may be most noticeable when the aligners are switched out.

They are also discreet – because the aligners are clear and don’t involve any wires, most people will not even be able to tell you’re wearing them. Invisalign® aligners are meant to be worn at least 22 hours per day to be effective; however, this means you can remove them for special events or to eat, brush, and floss your teeth just as you would have before.

Am I a Good Candidate for Invisalign®?

Most patients are excellent candidates for Invisalign®. The aligners can treat a wide array of malocclusions, including crowded teeth, underbite, overbite, crossbite, open bite and tooth bites.

Over 6 million people have had their smiles perfected with Invisalign®, including 1.4 million teens. Children as young as six years old can even have an early form of treatment called Phase I with Invisalign® First aligners. At this stage, Dr. Luck and his team might recommend early treatment of issues like crowding, spacing, and narrow arches to prevent them from becoming more significant problems in the future.

How Much Does Invisalign® Cost?

The price of Invisalign® is similar to that of traditional braces. On average, the cost to patients is between $3,000 and $5,000. Most insurances cover these aligners the same way they would traditional braces – either by a percentage of the total treatment cost or in a specific dollar amount towards the total cost. If you have dental insurance, check with your insurer to find out whether your plan covers Invisalign®. Additionally, if you have an FSA or HSA, you can use these pre-tax dollars to pay for any remaining portion not covered by your insurance.
